Makes a great literacy center, small group activity, RTI activity,
for ELL & Speech students & more!
Supports and aligns with Common Core Standards:
R.F.K1, R.F.K2, RF.K.3, L.K.1, L.K.2
*Many ways to use and modify to meet the needs of all learners!
Some classrooms are lucky enough to have tablets available for students to use. I don't have that luxury, but I want my students to feel like their center activities are just as engaging! Hence, how this pack was born!
Some suggestions for use include:
*Project onto Eno/Smartboard when introducing a letter and have students circle the pictures associated with that letter. Then send students to their seats to color that letter’s pics on the b&w version.
*Use in centers- students can work on all letters, or only those you need to review.
*Use for RTI- use colored tablets/workmats for practice and b&w printables for assessment of mastery
*Use for ELL & Speech groups- great for vocabulary in addition to phonics!
*Make each student a set of b&w tablets- either bind or staple. As you learn each letter, have them work on that page. By the end of the year they will have a whole set of tablets A to Z!
*Students can sound spell/label the pictures that start with that letter- either in the ‘frame’ of the tablet or on the back.
*Use for writing too! Have students create a story using the words that start with a particular letter. Attach writing to a tablet b&w that they have colored!
Ways To Use Include:
Print on cardstock, cut & laminate (can cut out shape of tablet or just on dotted line)
Students can use clothespins, chips/counters, expo markers or dry erase crayons to ID the pictures that start with that letter (see photo page)
Want a few sets? Print/cut/laminate a set for each child in the group. Hole punch and ‘bind’ the set with a binder ring. Students can easily flip between the pages.
Conserving Ink? Print the B&W version onto colored cardstock and/or onto white cardstock & laminate. Have students use dry erase crayons to color/mark pictures
(Mr. Clean Eraser works GREAT for erasing!)
Make them self-correcting:
Dot the back when using clothespins, provide an ‘answer’ key for students to check, double side print the tablets (one side color, one side b&w). Color or circle the correct answers on the b&w side and then laminate. Students can then flip it over to see if they colored/marked correctly!
Print b&w tablets and copy as a morning work/center extension activity. Students can write their names in the tablet’s frame.
The possibilities are endless! Your students are sure to love practicing letters and sounds with the tablets and you can 'i' very easily who is getting it and those that may need some more help!
