What's My Slope
This finding slope activity is based on the “mix-freeze-pair” cooperative learning strategy. There are two levels of play, one where students find the slope based on a graph and the other where they find the slope between two ordered pairs using the slope formula. The graphing version uses two halves of a house or two halves of a mountain so that when paired the house or mountain is complete. The students must then find the slope of the right roof or right side of the mountain and the left roof or left side of the mountain. A worksheet is provided for the students to record their answers. Alternately, “What’s my slope?” can also be used as a math center activity.
For the ordered pairs, each student will have an ordered pair card and must find the slope between the two points when paired using the slope formula. Students can show their work and record their answers on their own paper.

What's My Line
“What’s My Line?” based on the “mix-freeze-pair” cooperative learning strategy, was designed to practice graphing lines from equations in slope-intercept form, standard form or from a mix of slope-intercept and standard from. The graphed lines in this activity will have both positive and negative slopes, as well as, horizontal and vertical lines for no slope and undefined slope.
A second activity is included where students practice writing the equation of a line between two points and equations of parallel and perpendicular lines.
Alternately, “What’s My Line?” can also be used as a math center activity. Directions for a math center setup are included as well.
There are a total of 24 card pairs for the Graphing Lines for each of the three levels (48 total cards for each level) and 18 card pairs (36 total cards) for the Writing Equations of Lines Through Two Points activity, so there are plenty of cards to choose from for a given class.
