Time for a brain break! Let your middle and high school students walk and talk about the rainbow and the visible spectrum.
Teenagers like to talk about what they do during their free time. These partner and circulating speaking tasks will maximize the participation in your classroom. This activity is in Microsoft Word .doc form so that you can customize the discussion to fit the needs of your students.
Students circulate and fill in classmates' names in the boxes if they find someone who matches that square. After a given amount of time, teacher stops and debriefs students with “Takeoff/Touchdown”.
I use this activity at the beginning of my Question Exploration: What is the Electromagnetic Spectrum?
