This fun-filled Earth Day themed Pocket Chart station activity can be used as a whole-class lesson, small-group mini-lesson, intervention lesson, center activity, or literacy station.
This product has 3 tiers for DIFFERENTIATION:
Tier 1 - CVC word sort
Tier 2 - CVCe word sort
Tier 3 - long & short vowel word sort
Addresses COMMON CORE State Standards:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.2d - Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme CVC words
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.3b - Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels.
Print, laminate, and cut apart the adorable globe word cards and Sprout characters. Arrange them in a pocket chart. Hide the Sprout cards behind the globe word cards. Use as many or few as you wish.
Tiered recording sheets are included for each activity! Each recording sheet includes space to sort the words. There is also a sentence-writing component where students will apply what they've learned by writing a word from the sort in a complete sentence.
