This is an activity that I use during the first week of school to go along with a shared reading of Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. We read the book, discuss tolerance, respect, and kindness toward each other, then the students complete this sheet. They count the letters in their name, then they stand up and talk with other students throughout the room. When they find a student with each letter, that student writes his/her name in the appropriate box. It is a great way to get kids talking to each other during the first week, and it reinforces alphabet knowledge/recognition!
