This STEM learning activity employs the use of the QR Code with its versatility for computer, tablet, or mobile device use, to expose young learners to STEM concepts while addressing the Common Core requirements. The objective is to develop phonological awareness by identifying rhyming words in a nursery rhyme projected by a QR-Code scan. This skill is also reinforced by students maintaining a scorecard or learning log, to record answers as well as engagement with a word sort activity. The task adapts to various delivery models of instruction: cooperative learning, whole, small or individualized group instruction, and learning centers. The sorting activity adds a multisensory experience. This package includes: a teacher guide, QR Code Scan sheets, QR Code rhyming answers, corresponding word sorts, and student scorecard/learning log that will function as sorting mats.
