Find and Fix: Sight Word and Sentence Structure Practice
This packet has 7 different sheets, each with 5-6 sentences. Students read the focus sight word at the top of the page. Then they will read each sentence, highlight the sight word, and correct the mistakes in the sentence. Mistakes in this packet are a mixture of missing end punctuation and missing capital letters (First words, names, days of week, "I"). After completing the sentences, students will write the sight word in the letter boxes at the bottom of the page. In the corner it lists how many mistakes the students need to find (7-9 per page). Sentences are easy for the students to read as they have high frequency/sight words or easily decodable words. Words that are more difficult have a picture clue underneath to help!
Sight words included: and, are, at, come, them, to, was
I have used this for a morning work activity, but it could also be used as a literacy center activity or as a mini lesson/ assessment for editing and proof reading. My students like to race and see how fast they can find all the mistakes. They get so excited when they get the tricker mistakes such as a question mark (Instead of just thinking a sentence needs a period).
I can also make custom pages for you if there are specific sight words you would like and/or mistake types. Please message me and we can work something out!
