This game contains the high frequency sight words from the Reading Street series for kindergarten. It also contains a blank set of cards for you to add the sight words of your choice!
Just print, laminate, and cut the cards. They are perfect to add to a pocket chart or you can just spread them out on a table or the floor.
To play, choose one card and use a little sticky tack or tape to attach the elf to the back. Don't let the kiddos see the card!
Students take turns pointing to a tree and reading the word. If they get it right, then they can turn it over to see if the elf is hiding there.
If the student misses the word, as a group, we spell it three times together in a silly way (whisper, deep voice, mouse voice, etc.) after which the student can look for the elf.
Once the elf is found, the student who finds it is allowed to hide it and call students up one at a time to choose a tree. They love having a turn as "teacher"!
My students hooked on this game. Sometimes, when we have an extra few minutes, we will squeeze in a round or two. It is excellent for centers, fast finishers, and small groups.
