The goal of this game is to help students locate textual evidence within a text when an inference is given. The game can be played many different ways. We usually play by having students work in pairs to read and discuss the text. You can also have students divide into teams and take turns, use the cards in small group sessions, or add a simple game board and use as a station activity. Sometimes evidence will be found in multiple places. Some inferences on the cards are more obvious while others are more difficult to find. Blank cards are also included to allow you to create your own. You will need to download a free copy of the passage Big Hope from www.readworks.org and print out copies to use for the game.
