Product Description
This is a fun, Winter/Christmas themed PowerPoint activity. Once purchased you will have a zipped file. Inside the zipped file are 3 items. 2 of the items are the actual game - it is available as a PowerPoint show using the newer versions of PowerPoint, or as a show using the 97-2003 version of PowerPoint. The other item included is an info and answers pdf document, which also houses a student recording sheet.

In the game PowerPoint show there are 15 ornaments on a main screen. Each ornament links to a problem that asks students to find the slope of a line crossing through the 2 points given. If you would like to make the questions a little more difficult, you could ask students to determine the equation of the line that crosses through the points. If using a smart board you can have students take turns touching the ornaments to reveal the question, or even have students throw a soft koosh ball at the board. Each problem slide has the question, as well as gift box in the top right corner. When a user clicks on the gift box, it will move over to reveal the answer to the problem. (This makes it easy to check students answers!) To go back to the main screen you will click a gingerbread man. Once an ornament has been clicked it will disappear to prevent repeats!

To play this game I suggest dividing students into 3-5 small groups. Then, give each group a white board (or other device) to record answers on. Allow someone from each group to go to the front of the room, to touch/throw a koosh ball at the ornaments. Then, give each group time to determine the slope. If you prefer to have students solve the problems on their own piece of paper there is a recording sheet available to print out.

Make sure to check out the free preview to understand the game better!
