This packet aligns perfectly with CCSS 5.NF.B.4.B. Students are asked to find the area of various rectangles in real-life situations. Some rectangles include one fractional side length and in some cases both side lengths are fractions. Answers need to be simplified in a variety of ways: some are fractions that need to be simplified, some are improper fractions that must be changed to mixed numbers, and some are mixed numbers that result in a whole number. This gives students tons of extra practice with fraction computation while learning more about area and measurement!
