This assignment goes cross-curricular by introducing Felix, a lovable feline, who brings the 50 states into the math classroom. Felix is hiding in one of the 50 states; students must solve one-step equations to receive clues to figure out where Felix is hiding. When they are finished, the students must guess which state Felix is in.
There are two different states presented in this packet. Both worksheets have the same math problems, so students may work in groups together - but the clues with lead them to different states. You can choose to use both states or just one.
Students will receive clues about famous people born in the state, facts about the state, and fun trivia about the state. I prefer to modify the worksheets to include teachers from the school as some of the famous people from Felix's state.
