In this activity, students are asked to identify two songs by two different artists, both of which include some form of figurative language (simile, metaphor, idiom, personification, or hyperbole). Students include identifying information about each song, the lyric containing the language, and then must explain which type of figurative language is used (and how they know). On the back, an extension question is included in which students compare the figurative language lyric to a more literal (and likely more boring) version of the same idea.
