Hello! This tiered activity will allow children to learn how to find fractions of a whole number with explicit, guided step-by-step examples that walk them through the steps while slowly building their independence as they move forward and start to take over the steps. After doing 4 guided problems, the students will practice an additional 6 on their own. Both of these activities use the same format and the same problems so children won't easily know that they are doing different levels of complexity.
Use the first activity for your new or struggling learners who are visual. They will draw groups to model fractions of a whole number.
Use the second activity with your students who are comfortable/able to simply divide by the denominator and then multiply by the numerator to find the fraction of the whole.
I also offer both activities separately.
This includes an answer key for both activities.
