Least Common Denominator provides an explanation of why knowing how to find the least common denominator is so important. It explains how useful it is for adding, subtracting, and comparing fractions. This product breaks down the process of finding least common denominator into small steps. Each step is explained and there is an example to illustrate each step. After the process, there are 2 practice problems for ordering fractions. Students are given several fractions with different fractions. Then they are given directions for each step so they can solve the answer and write the fractions in order from least to greatest. Then there is a very short practice on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. The steps in the process can be blown up into a poster, printed on cardstock, or laminated. You can place them at their desk as classwork helpers, or they can be sent home as homework helpers. If you have a center that involves the need to find the least common denominator, then you can use this as a helper tool.
