This product is designed to pick up where other color-coded text evidence activities leave off. As students get older, they are using more and more of their evidence in their writing. They are expected to provide longer written answers. Still, we have reluctant writers in our classrooms. We have times when we need to give our upper elementary students a reminder about the importance of providing text evidence as support for their statements. I have used this activity as bell work, homework, and this year, I will be sending it home over our two long winter breaks in December and February so that students will keep those terrific text evidence-finding skills up to par!
DAILY HOLIDAYS ARE SO FUN! I love to start our day with a morning meeting that centers around that day's "daily holiday". Whether the holiday is National Teddy Bear Day, Video Game Day, or International Fortune Cookie Appreciation Day, my students love to know what "day" it is today! After our rousing morning meetings, they don't even mind finding a little bit of text evidence for homework or as a warm up to language arts. The rest of the months are coming, so please follow me so you know when to grab them!
