This product is designed to pick up where other color-the-evidence activities leave off. As students get older, they are using more and more of their evidence in their writing. They are expected to provide longer written answers. Still, we have reluctant writers in our classrooms. We have times when we need to give our upper elementary students a reminder about the importance of providing text evidence as support for their statements. I have used this activity as bell work, homework, and this year, I will be sending it home as part of my students' ELA summer work requirements. While they will also have a required book to read, this packet is going to double as text evidence practice and a springboard into further summer reading. Once they read the descriptions of the 20 books that are highlighted in this packet, they will want to read those as well! This packet features 20 books, including: Bridge to Terabithia, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, When You Reach Me, The War That Saved My Life, and The Watsons Go to Birmingham, 1963.
