This is a great activity for a career education/business course in which you are teaching a unit related to finding and applying for jobs. This activity describes in detail what a job description is and what items are typically included in a job description. Students will use online job posting websites (Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com) to search for jobs they might be interested in and then summarize the results. This is great practice for students in regard to learning how to search these sites for jobs and understanding what information is provided in a job description.
The directions in the activity read as follows- Use Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com to search for a job you might be interested in. It can be anything. You will choose one job from each site. You can search for a job by typing in a job title or search by category/industry. When you locate the jobs you are interested in, please write a one or two paragraph summary of the job description for each job. Choose jobs that have a job description with depth to it so you can include as much of the above as possible since some job descriptions are very brief. Please write legibly and print. Use the back side of this sheet.
