Finding and Applying for Jobs- Making Hot and Cold Phone Calls
This is a great activity for a career education/business course in which you are teaching a unit related to finding and applying for jobs. This activity has students working with a partner to create a script for a hot and cold call. Description and directions that appear on worksheet are stated below. The scenarios will appear on the worksheet. Great teamwork activity!
You can utilize the telephone to make calls to aid you in your job search. A hot call is a call to a specific person or to get specific job information, such as a call to follow up a referral or job lead. A cold call is a phone call to a prospective employer with whom you have had no prior contact. You can use cold calling to speak with potential hiring managers to inquire about jobs within their company.
Directions: With a partner you will write a script between an applicant and an employer for a hot call and a cold call. You will use the scenarios below. Please write your scripts on a separate sheet of paper.
