Teaching percentages is made easy with these 3 lessons that contain flip charts (both .iwb and .flipchart formats), lesson plans and worksheets.
I created this lesson for UK National Curriculum Year 5 Finding Percentages module and it can be easily converted, simplified or up-leveled for younger/ older classes.
Each lesson contains a warm-up activity based on a different area of Maths (number or shape), detailed visual slides to help students through their learning, student activity and reference in a detailed lesson plan.
The first lesson introduces students to the concept of % in terms of '1 out of 100' and their relationship to fractions. Four levels of student work are differentiated to the learning needs of your students (very low ability, low ability, middle ability, high ability).
The second lesson extends the students' understanding of the equivalencies between % and fractions and teaches the students how to find percentages of money. (2 level differentiated work).
The third lesson consolidates on the previous learning and introduces students to the operation of finding percentages of fractions. (Two activities designed to challenge students' understanding and up-level their knowledge.)
