Product Description
This file was created to assist my 6th grade students to find the areas of compound objects. What I discovered while working with them was that they struggled to see that compound objects are created using a variety of shapes that they are already familiar with. By using the animation capabilities within PowerPoint I was able to create this file which shows the students the separate objects coming together to create the compound shape.

Within this file I review the formulas for the area of:
- Parallelograms
- Trapezoids
- Triangles
- Circles

Then using those various shapes, compound objects are created. The PowerPoint shows how these objects are separated and combined and how to find the area for each of them.

It is a total of 18 slides with several different example problems and several problems for students to complete.
