This activity will help students analyze different ways to write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form given the slope and a point (either plugging into y=mx + b or putting it in point-slope form). Students examine both methods and compare them. Finally, they try both methods out, so they can decide which method they like better.
This activity is a great way to implement math practice #3, construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, while practicing writing equations of lines with a point and the slope
There is also a short practice worksheet for writing equations of lines.
