This group activity is designed for students to build 6 master right triangles and then construct similar polygons in the sides of the figure. By studying the area of the three similar polygons students will discover that the area of the two smallest polygons adds up to the area of the largest polygons. Through further investigation students will conclude the Pythagorean Theorem.
Each of the students in a group will build 6 master right triangles with various similar polygons on each side.
An assignment, with solutions, is included.
