PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This worksheet is designed so that students can use an excel spreadsheet to determine the maximum volume of a box as a function of the edge length of the square cut away from each corner of a sheet of paper. They should have some prior experience with using excel, such as how to enter a formula.

This is the second in a three-part series.

I start out class with a 15-minute "mini-lesson," showing my students how they will be using excel to determine the maximum volume of a rectangular box. Once the mini-lesson is over, I have them get to work within their groups on this worksheet, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions.

Students are expected to show their work on a graph using Microsoft excel
