This is designed to be used with the Houghton Mifflin Reading textbook: 4th grade. The board is divided into four skills: Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Comprehension, and Writing. There are three levels of activities for each skill. Additionally, activities marked with asterisks can be completed with a partner (feel free to change these). A few of the activities incorporate videos from the internet or articles from the internet. The articles can be printed out to allow for easier access. One of the activities requires students to draw a Circle Map (Thinking Maps). One activity references a Learn360 video, but there is an alternative You Tube video suggested on page 3. There is a list of 6 Extra Time/Extension Activities for early finishers. Cards for the graphic organizer are provided.
Prep Requires: copying Tic Tac Toe boards, copying the number of articles you would like available, copying the number of graphic organizer card sets you would like available (and perhaps cutting these out), preparing the internet videos.
An answer key for the graphic organizer is provided. The other activities are more open-ended.
Practice for Common Core Standards: RI.4.1, RI.4.2, RI.4.10, W.4.1b, W.4.3b, W.4.7
