Learn more about each of the fine motor categories!
1- Handwriting & Pencil Control (10 pages):
In this category of skill-building, children practice basic writing strokes and pencil movements. Next, children copy simple words appropriate to this pack’s theme, with arrows to guide proper letter formation. Copying sentences follow. Also, three writing lines are provided to guide kids’ letters.
2- Fine Motor Coordination & Strength (10 pages):
These skill-building and strengthening activities include scissors skills, tear and glue tasks. Motivating and creative fine motor activities encourage children to take part in fine motor activities, even if they are challenging to children. Frequent practice ultimately leads to mastery and to improvement!
3- Fine Motor & Reading (10 pages):
When a child struggles with reading or when a child is working to learn new words, mixing this learning with fun activities is a great approach. The reading tasks in this resource are ideal for young students and also offers a good review for slightly older children.
4- Fine Motor and Math (10 pages):
Research from the University of Chicago shows that “learning by doing” helps students perform better (Kontra et al., 2015). Researchers suggest that teachers offer classroom tasks that physically engage students in the learning process. This builds a child’s confidence for math concepts.
5- Visual Perception & Visual Motor Skills (10 pages):
Visual perception is a child’s ability to make sense of visual information. In this resource, visual scanning and discrimination is addressed. This involves being able to identify the similarities and differences between objects. Visual motor control is the hand control needed for careful work.
