Fine Motor: DINOSAUR THEMED POKE ART
Created by Jan McCleskey, MA, OTR - The Fine Motor Store
Poke art is fun and encourages a tripod grasp on a pencil. This file contains 6 dinosaur themed poke art activity pages. Students can use a push pin, toothpick, golf tee, or a corn cob holder (one prong cut off) to punch the dots. Cut out the sheets into 1/4 page and give each student a piece of craft foam and a puncher. Perfect for working on the fine motor skills necessary for pencil control. An adaptation sheet is included for students who lock the last joint of their thumb (IP joint) into extension or hyperextension. The adaptation will work on strengthening the flexor polices longs muscle in order to get the co-contraction needed to maintain flexion while holding a pencil. Look for other fine motor files in Jan's store, to find other fine motor activities that use the TIP grip protocol for developing a dynamic grasp on a pencil!
FUN, easy to use. Perfect for centers. Perfect for occupational therapy. Perfect for early childhood through elementary to work on grasp development on a pencil.
