Fine Motor Drawing –More Fun with Eggies
Young children need lots of practice in fine motor activities. It’s great if this practice can be fun too.
Fun with Eggies provides both the practice and the fun in a graded approach.
Eggies are cartoon characters using an oval shape as the base.
Stage 1. A number of Eggie characters are provided. The children copy the arms legs and facial features on the oval shapes below each character.
Stage 2. Similar to stage one but the ovals provide are dotted shaped. The children need to trace over these shapes before adding the other features.
Stage 3. The children draw their own ovals and make up their own Eggie characters.
Stage 4. The children create the Eggie characters for cartoon stories, either based on Nursery Rhymes, Fairy Tales, Stories they have heard or ones from their own imagination.
Coloring the characters created adds more fine motor practice for the children.
Children can become greatly interested with the characters they create.
Many teachers also find they can use this method to produce easy illustrations for their class worksheets.
