Fine Motor Punch Q-Tip Color Zoo Animals! Fine motor skills activities to work on eye hand coordination and pencil skills with a tripod grasp.
21 small zoo animals and 21 large zoo animals to punch, q-tip with paint, or color with a pencil or colored pencil to work on pencil grasp. See the preview to view all the information with pictures of punchers.
1. Use a puncher to punch the circles. Some examples of a puncher might be a corn cob holder with one prong cut off, a push pin, or for unsupervised activities - use a golf tee or a pencil to punch. The punch pad can be a computer mouse pad, styrofoam, craft foam or a foam backed carpet square. This activity works well on eye hand coordination. Try to also have the student use a tripod grasp.
2. Use a q-tip and paint to dot along the border of each zoo animal. Work with the students to use a tripod grasp.
3. Color the circles with a pencil or colored pencil. Circle coloring facilitates a dynamic grasp and this is a perfect pencil warm up to teach the students that holding a pencil correctly with a tripod is optimal.
