Perfect for center time! Perfect for fine motor activities! FUN!!!
This activity can be used separately, but it is recommended that the instructor also get the file entitled: Printable Warm – up worksheets emphasizing correct patterning of letters. The printable warm up file has fun, classroom multi-sensory activities and warm-ups to augment any handwriting program. The file teaches patterning of print letters counterclockwise or top to bottom. The file is $2.00 on Teachers Pay Teachers – in Jan McCleskey’s store.
In this Farm/Fall themed trace and write file, the instructor will print the trace and write pages, and cut the page in half to have single copies. The students will use a marker to trace the fall themed picture/farm animal, and then will trace the word. Letters in each word have a dot for the starting point, plus an arrow for the first stroke of the letter.
Emphasize to the students to start on the dot and to follow the arrow for the first stroke. This will help students generalize the patterning of letters in the correct sequence from top to bottom! The language for the first stroke of each letter is included in this file for those teachers who would like to verbally instruct a child to draw letters. For example, if the child traced a goat, then the instructor could say “circle stroke g, circle stroke o, circle stroke a, and tall line down t”. Regardless of the verbal cueing – this file should augment most any block print program used in the classroom – as the simple, visual instructions for writing each letter emphasize correct patterning.
