This Fire Safety Emergent Reader
details the “Stop, Drop and Roll” directions to follow in case a child’s hair or clothing has caught on fire. While this booklet is appropriate for use during Fire Prevention Week, it is very important information that can be shared and reviewed with your class at any time during the year.
There are 3 differentiated stories in this set. Each of these Fire Safety booklets has the same story text, but the task the student must do to complete the story changes in each version. This provides for an engaging way to interact with the text while working towards reading mastery.
The differentiated tasks are designed to engage the child with the text, which helps to develop fluency and confidence while reading. For each version, the story text remains the same while the student performs a different task to complete the emergent reader.
The child cuts out the letters for the target word, sequences the letters, and glues them into the booklet.
A lined area on each page is provided for the student to write the target word.
3. Match Text with Illustration
The child reads the text on the page and glues on the illustration that corresponds with that sentence.
A guided/independent reading version is also provided for this story!
These emergent readers can be used for center activities, guided reading, as well as for intervention groups.
Materials in this set are:
• 1 Interactive Student Reader story, with 3 different task levels
• Corresponding Pocket Chart Pictures in color as well as black and white
