Fire Safety Writing
Writing Booklet - We saw a ...
This resource will help you sequence a whole week of writing for your emergent writers.
Print the pages and make each of your students a mini writing book for the week.
This book has a focus on the sentence pattern "We saw a ... (fire/fire truck/ladder )"... (with a Fire Safety theme, or use any time of the year)
On day 1 students will read a sentence and then cut/paste words to match.
On day 2, students will again cut and paste (following a guide), but also trace the words to copy the sentence.
On day 3, students will cut and paste the sentence, without any model or guide and also write the sentence on their own within writing lines.
On day 4, students will finish the beginning of a sentence "Where is the ..." and attempt independent writing
On day 5, students will attempt independent writing and write their own sentence.
You can break up these activities and tailor them to suit your own students if you prefer.
We have included teacher-sized word flashcards in order for you to conduct a whole class modelled writing lessson on Day 1, and show students how the words go together to make a sentence.
These fun books will not only help encouarge the writing process, but also reading, fine motor and sight words!
This booklet is included in our Big Bundle of Writing Books, take a look if you would like to save $ on a bundled price.
