This is an Expository Essay Prompt

“Literature Based Writing Prompt – Fire and Ice - The poem "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost deals with the age old question – how will the world end. Frost uses symbolism to establish the two different possibilities of destruction: fire and ice. However, he adds a twist to the scientific outlook by including informal personal pronouns and by giving examples of both fire and ice. The poem becomes symbolic of not only the end of Earth the planet but of the end of humanity. The whole meaning of the poem changes because now the end involves humans and human nature; it is no longer a natural occurrence.

In Fire and Ice, Frost provides an example of extended symbolism with the use of "hot" and "cold". Discuss what each of these possibilities are symbolic of and how they will contribute to the end of the world. Use specific examples from the text to as supporting evidence.
