“Fireboat” by Maira Kalman Picture Book Study
There is a multitude of effective and differentiated resources to support the understanding of the picture book and subject matter. This is rigorous study that works well grades 3 – 8. The assessment is best for grades 6+ or advanced elementary students and consists of 13 pages of materials. The graphic organizers work well for upper elementary. The tasks cards are on varying levels.
Again, Provided is a multitude of resources and you should not overwhelm yourself. Pick and choose what is conducive to your students and your classroom. Do not feel obligated to use every resource. Remember, you are in control of what you teach and what you want your students to accomplish. Optimize your instruction with differentiation!
Remember you do not have to print every activity. You can project the file onto your smart board and have students work as a class to complete the activities. You can also engage in differentiated group activities and even let children pick what they want to complete.
