Here are a few activities to use with your bug unit. Students will identify numbers, count, and create sets in the ten frame to match the number on each mat. They can use dough, erasers or manipulatives to fill in the ten frames. This is a fun, engaging activity that can be introduced during a small group activity then placed at a math center. Swat Make 10 is a booklet where students count on the ten frame to determine how many more flies are needed to make 10. Put the pages in any order you wish. There are two books on a page making it easy peasy to run through the copy machine with a staple on the left side. Great for math centers, independent work, or morning work. Students can count on, use stickers, use counters, color in, stamp, or dauber the spaces to figure out how many more flies are needed to make 10.
