My school has been focusing on students tracking their own growth/mastery of the Frye words.
In order to ensure my students were learning these important words, I developed these Frye word mats.
I love these so much because they do not take up a lot of space - I have split the alphabet/words into two pages which can be printed front to back (I suggest card stock), then simply laminate for students to keep on their desks and refer to all year. These are great to use as resources during writing, whole class choral reading, or as spelling helpers.
They could also be printed and used in a writers workshop folder, used on a smartboard during whole group activities, or printed and used in a folder as a personal dictionary.
What you receive;
- 2 mats
- the first 300 Frye words(levels from kindergarten through end of second grade) alphabetized
- the first mat with pictures, letters, and words from A-M
- the second mat with pictures, letters, and words from N-Z
Did you know that the first 300 Frye words make up 65% of all written material - proving the importance of student mastery of these very relevant words!
