This menu of activities can be used as a formative or summative assessment of the First Americans. -Write a newspaper article that describes how the settlers of the Desert Southwest, Pacific Northwest, and Eastern Woodlands influenced the way they lived and adjusted to the natural environment.
-Write 3-5 diary entries from the point of view of a First American settler.
-Write an origin story that explains how a landform, plant, or animal began. Combine fact with fantasy in your story. Also, create a totem pole that depicts a key idea from your story.
-Create a “Teach a Lesson” video on longitude and latitude
-Create a flow map that outlines the steps to making a longhouse.
-Compare and contrast the Olmec, Mound Builders, and the Mayan early civilizations in North America. Be sure to include their location, inventions and contributions to society, time periods, and other important details.
