This activity is to accompany the book, "First Day Jitters" by Julie Danneberg. You may choose to give the students some jitter juice to calm their nerves while you read aloud the book. Then, have the students complete this activity to take away their "First Day Jitters"!
Sort of like bingo or a scavenger hunt, the students will walk around the room and find a friend who fits the information in the square. When they do, that student will write their name in the square. It's that easy!
As a teacher, when you see your students walking in on the first day of school, you probably notice the shyness and anticipation that they may be feeling. You want your students to feel as comfortable as possible while being in your classroom. This activity is a great start to the first day to calm everyone's nerves and to help them find a friend, too.
Make your first day memorable, engaging, and fun with this "First Day Jitters" Activity.
