If you're like me, reading the book First Day Jitters is a staple to my First Day of School routine. Having the opportunity to discuss what "The Jitters" are and reassuring our students that EVERYONE gets the jitters, including teachers, is always a rich discussion in the early days of school.
In this NO PREP product I have included 3 activities to supplement "First Day Jitters."
Activity #1- "What Gives You the Jitters?"
Print and cut out the words above (I printed mine on green cardstock) and tape them to an anchor chart. After reading "First Day Jitters," ask students to share what gives them "The Jitters" and post their responses on the anchor chart.
Activity #2- Jitter Juice
Print and cut out the "Jitter Juice" label and tape it to a bottle of Sprite or 7Up. Explain to students that you have some special Jitter Juice that'll hopefully make all their Jitters disappear! In a cup, place one scoop of sherbet (optional) and add Jitter Juice!
Activity #3- "Jitter Juice Is..."
The culminating activity to this product involves letting students share their opinions on how the Jitter Juice tasted. Have "Jitter Juice Opinion Cards" cut out along with the anchor chart words: "Jitter Juice Is... Awesome, Gross!" and let students decide whether they thought the Jitter Juice was Gross or Awesome by coloring the corresponding card. Students can then chart their opinions on the anchor chart.
Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for purchasing my product!
