These common core aligned activities will surely keep your kids busy during the first few days of school
This packet includes:
Writing Prompts. These are good for the beginning of school because you can assess right away how your students are writing.
Prompts include a picture box and lines for writing.
-What kind of jitters did you have about coming to school today?
-Why do you think Sarah had jitters on the first day of school?
-Write about a time when you had the jitters about something.
-Students first day of school with picture boxes and lines for writing. I included 4 different organizers.
-Sequence the story graphic organizer (boxes with lines below)
-Make a prediction about what you think this story is going to be about.
Compare and Contrast
-Using a Venn diagram, students will compare their first day of school to Sarah's first day. The Venn Diagram is on a full page, and also 2 on a page. (2 different sizes)
-Using the graphic organizers, students will make connections to the text. (I included 1 set with lines and 1 without)
-Students are given an unfamiliar word from the story. They have to write what they think it means, and then they will review the words with their teacher and write down the real definition. At the bottom students self-assess and write how many words they got correct! I included one with words, and one without in case you want to pick different vocabulary words.
