Product Description

When meeting a new class it’s important to let the students get to know each other. Building a sense of community helps to create a positive classroom environment for your students.

This fun activity gives students a chance to mingle and meet each other. Students will get the opportunity to play a game, introduce each other to the class, and introduce themselves to the teacher. This is a low-stress activity for both teachers and students.

1.Secret Partners Game: (~ 10-15 minutes)

•Students fill in a paper about their favorite things. They shouldn’t write their name on this paper.

•The teacher then collects the papers and redistributes them randomly to the students.
Before they begin to search for their secret partner they should write their name.
The students must walk around the classroom to find their ”secret partner” by asking questions like “what’s your favorite movie”, “what’s your hobby”?

•Once students have found their secret partner they record their partner’s name on the paper.

2.Partner interview: (~20 minutes)

•After all students have found their secret partners they will take some time to interview them and record their answers.

3.Introductions: (~30 minutes) *time will vary based on how many students are in the class.

•Students will stand at the front of the class with their partner and introduce their partner by reading the responses from the partner interview. (For example: ”This is John. His goal this year is to make the basketball team…”
* The same two people will not introduce each other because they have different partners. (For the first pair, one student will introduce their partner, and then sit down, their partner will then call their own partner up to the front).

4.All about me: (~15 minutes)

•With the remaining class time, students will complete the “All About Me” page and hand it in to the teacher by the end of class or complete for homework.
