Not only will this activity help the teacher connect with the parents and students, this provides an opportunity for the students to connect too.
This beginning of the year activity allows the teacher to make a great first impression on the parents and students. Mailing this simple multi-purpose /save-the-date postcard to the students (in c/o the parent(s) is an excellent way to jumpstart parent engagement and connect with students before they ever enter the classroom. These printable ready-to-use templates, in addition to a first day of school activity, can also easily be transferred to a “class night” or “open house” activity.
The template of choice will be printed for each student. There are options in both color and black and white. The pertinent information will be completed accompanied by the “autograph” of the teacher.
The teacher will select the same template for at least two (2) students. The students will be asked to bring the card in with them on the first day. The students who have the same template will be required to team up, get to know each other, and introduce their partner (or group members depending on how many have the same template) as the opening activity. This not only introduces you to the students and parents, this product serves as the foundation for the first day of school introductions. This products pre-selects partners so that transition into the introductory exercise is seamless (which is also a time-saving measure for the first day of school).
