Great for back to school!!
Scoot! is a fun activity where students will travel from station to station or desk to desk to solve problems. It is a great activity to get students up and moving, while still practicing academic skills. This one is is EXTRA special because it includes exercises AND partners!
Give each student a recording sheet. Students will start at their own desks (or an assigned spot) and ask their partner the question on the task card, then they will switch and answer the same question. There are a lot of different ways to do this....
1. Have partners stay together for the whole game and don't write down answers, just talk to each other (for the non-writers)
2. Have partners stay together and write their own OR their partner's answers down in the corresponding boxes.
3. Set up a clockwise and a counterclockwise group so that they are talking to different partners for the whole game.
As students finish each station, the teacher will say, “Scoot!” and students will move onto the next desk or station. They will continue to answer questions and move about the room until they get back to their own starting point.
I included the hints at the top of the kids' answer sheets so you can hang on to them and learn about their favorites, too!
There are 30 cards in the set. You can always remove cards to make the game shorter.
For the exercise cards - I did not put a number to the
exercise task. You can stipulate at the beginning - do ten of each exercise. For added challenge, have them count by fives or tens to 50 or 100. It's always great to get math and LA in the same game! Additionally, since this is a partner game, you can have them take turns and count for each other in different ways.
Scoot! games can also be used as task cards at a center!
