This activity is appropriate for beginning level ESOL/ ESL students that have minimal familiarity with English. Key words are emphasized with larger font and pictures are included to help students understand emphasized vocabulary in case they are unfamiliar with them. This is basic, but drawings look age appropriate, and not infantile so it can be used with a wide range of grades.
Since Spanish is the most common native language ESLs speak I have included a Spanish version for those students who are absolute beginners. Students who need to complete this version should then be able to transition to the English version since they correspond exactly. (Note to teachers- On the word "happy/ encantada/o" a is for female teachers, o is for male teachers)
For those students who finish ahead of schedule, or for extra practice for all students, I included a third page that reinforces the emphasized vocabulary from the Introduction sheet. There is a word bank and students match the words to the illustrations, and there is a fill in the blank section.
