This is a set of three activities that can be used for the first day of school. I explain how I use these materials and how I plan out the first day of school in a blog post at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can visit my blog and type "first day" in the search bar to find the post.
***This is an editable file so you can customize it to suit your needs.
Included in this set are the following:
1. A "Modeling Me" sheet to use along with some playdoh. Students use the playdoh to model something that represents them. They draw a picture of what they modeled and they write a couple of sentences explaining it.
2. A Classroom Scavenger Hunt Page. Students are partnered for this activity. They get time to explore and to find various locations in the classroom. They read and discuss the question associated with that place and write their answer in the box.
3. Dialog Questions: These go along with the book: What If Everybody Did That? I use these after reading aloud the book and before our first lunch time together. We use these questions to help us as we create a classroom chart entitled: Lunchroom Lessons: The Do's and Don'ts
