The first few days of school can be intimidating for both the students and the teacher. I have used this simple resource for the last 4 years and it has been a fantastic way for me to connect with my students from the beginning of the school year.
I usually have my students create a name plate by folding this in half and using the blank side (taken from AVID). At the end of each period, I ask my students to give feedback on what they liked, didn't like, or suggestions they might have for the class. I tell them they are free to write anything as long as it is constructive. Before the next period I will respond to their comments and have them ready for the next day.
