Enclosed are 36 word problems, including addition, subtraction, and missing addends.
Strips can be cut apart and glued in a math journal or notebook. Then students have the rest of the page to draw pictures, label them with numbers, and write an equation. Not only is it amazing to watch how their strategies transform throughout the year as their number sense develops, but keeping daily word problems in the math journal serves as a great tool for parent conferences, intervention documentation, etc. It can also be sent home in a journal for homework practice.
This is geared toward first grade Common Core standards, but can be used for kindergarten enrichment, or for second grade remediation.
