Product Description
This is a 54 Page Product of reading response sheets. They are very comprehensive and they are designed to:

-Be used in literature groups, guided reading groups, or whole group instruction.
-Be used with any book.
-Support the teacher to instruct students in understanding the reading standard.
-Integrate speaking, listening and writing standards.
-They are designed to be very specific to first grade informational and literature based reading standards.


For some of the standards, there is a prerequisite sheet to support students in better understanding the concept of the standard. For the “story parts” standard, for example, there is a separate response sheet for setting, characters, and plot, making it easier to scaffold these standards.

-The response sheets all have a partner talk component to integrate the speaking and listening standards with reading and writing.

-All response sheets have a graphic organizer component and most have a writing component (we call this the “Bridge”). Students can use their thinking from the graphic organizer or template to then transfer to writing. There is a self-editing check-list for the writing component that relates to the conventions standards for first grade.

Reading Standards Addressed are:
All of the First Grade Reading Literature standards –RL.1.1, RL 1.2, RL. 1.3, RL.1. 5, RL.1.6, RL 1.7-so all except RL.1.4 and 1.9, 1.10

All of the First Grade Reading Informational Text standards- RL.1.1, RL 1.2, RL. 1.3, RL.1. 5, RL.1.6, RL 1.7-so all except RL.1.4 and 1.9, 1.10


Writing standards addressed are:
W 1.9 Draw evidence from literary and informational texts to support analysis, reflection and research.

W. 1.10 Write routinely over shorter time frames (a sitting in one day or two) for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes and audiences.
