Lots to look at in the preview! This writing curriculum is for the first half of the year. Every month is aligned to the Common Core Standards. This curriculum was made to engage, inspire, and produce great writing that your students will love! Every day is mapped out for you. It tells you what to say, what books to get, what websites to go to, etc. All worksheets and lesson plans are included.
Here’s the Common Core Standards you will meet in each month:
September: W.1.1 Making an opinion on what color of apple is best and
writing sentences to support it.
October: W.1.7 Shared research on spiders
W.1.2 Write an informative paragraph on spiders
W.1.8 Gather information to answer the question ‘What can
pumpkins be used for?’
W.1.6 Use peer collaboration to publish writing on Pumpkins
November: W.1.1 - Learn about the lives of Pilgrim children and form an
opinion about what the life a Pilgrim child was like. Students will
state their opinion, support it, and wrap it up with a sense of closure.
W.1.2 – Learn facts about turkeys. Organize their facts in an
informative paragraph about turkeys.
W.1.3 – Students will tell their story of how they get out being eaten for
December: W.1.1 Students write a paragraph about their opinion of whether they would rather be Santa or an elf.
September includes 2 weeks of activities, because I know that's the month we are just getting into the swing of things. October has 4 weeks worth of plans. November has 3 weeks, due to Thanksgiving. December has one week worth of plans.
