I love incorporating art history in my art lessons. After my trip to Europe I was inspired to create a European based lesson in all of my elementary classes.
For first grade I decided to introduce them to one of the oldest forms of art, the Lascaux Caves. Through this lesson they learn about France, prehistoric times, and making art without using standard art materials. This lesson can last one, two, or three classes.
This PowerPoint includes information about the Caves, vocabulary, and using unusual art materials to make art. Due to copyright laws pictures of the caves aren't included in this powerpoint. However, I have included easy to look up links for you to use to add the pictures.
